Welcome to Budbrooke Primary School

Music

                                                   Welcome to Music at Budbrooke

The Subject Leader for Music is Mrs Lavelle

Please see below for Budbrooke's Music Development Plan

At Budbrooke, we are really excited about our music curriculum this year. To help us with our learning we follow the Charanga scheme, which has this academic year provided some fantastic, topics and units of work that the children will love! Each topic supports the new Model Music Curriculum for Key Stages 1 - 3.

Throughout the year the children will will be given lots of opportunities to take part in a range of musical performances both in and out of school. We will keep you posted on these! We have weekly singing assemblies learning a range of new songs linked to a specific theme. The children may also have music lessons delivered by a peripatetic music teacher.

January 2026 News:

Firstly, I would like to thank all the children who took part in Young Voices for being such wonderful role models for our school and for truly embodying our core values. They showed fantastic confidence—especially at showtime—and challenged themselves to remember the songs without the lyrics (and there was a lot to learn!).

A huge well done to everyone who came along and sang their hearts out; it really was an event to remember. I loved seeing the children singing and dancing, enjoying the experience alongside their friends. Although it was a long day, every child gave it their absolute best, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year! - Mrs Lavelle

What did you enjoy most about Young Voices?

"It was just amazing, I loved performing in the arena!"

"I loved the singing and dancing"

"The Mexican wave was amazing - after the first one I just stood and watched it go around the arena as it was just brilliant to see!"

"I would recommend everyone to take part in the performance as it is such great fun!"

Needless to say, with the success of the event we will be running it again next year - so keep an eye out for sign up later in the year!
